Nigerian football academy Stars Builders has struck a new partnership with Greenpeg Engineering as it prepares for the 2026/27 season. The deal was announced Friday at a ceremony held at Greenpeg’s Lagos headquarters, with officials from both sides saying they expect the tie-up to support the academy’s development and its youth programs.
Greenpeg’s Managing Director, Bolaji Adekunle, said the partnership made sense given the overlap between the two organizations’ missions. He noted that his company runs its own training program for young graduates and professionals entering the engineering field, and sees a parallel with the academy’s work developing young football talent.
Greenpeg Engineering has operated in Africa’s industrial sector for over 15 years, supplying industrial components, offering maintenance services, and building custom industrial systems.
Stars Builders CEO Ayodeji Adegbenro called the agreement a major milestone, revealing that his connection with Adekunle actually dates back roughly 25 years to when the two shared a hostel room at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). He said their shared values made Greenpeg a natural fit and expressed hope for a lasting relationship.
Adegbenro also addressed the academy’s on-field ambitions, saying Stars Builders is prioritizing steady, organic growth over rushing up the league ladder. That’s why the club has stayed in the Nationwide League One for now, he explained, while targeting an eventual push into the Nigeria Premier Football League to compete with sides like Enyimba and Sporting Lagos.
Since its founding in 2021, Stars Builders has moved quickly through the ranks; winning the Ogun State League in its very first season in 2022, then earning back-to-back promotions up to the Nationwide League One, Nigeria’s third tier. The academy has also sent players into Nigeria’s youth national setup, including Segun Otusanya, who played for the Flying Eagles under former coach Ladan Bosso, while alumni Suleiman Shehu and Ayodele Adeloye have gone on to secure moves overseas.
The signing ceremony brought together Adekunle, Stars Builders Chairman Kayode Momoh, CEO Adegbenro, and Head Coach Jimmy Bello. As part of the event, the academy also revealed its home and away kits for the upcoming season, with Greenpeg Engineering now serving as the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor.
